National Suicide Prevention Month Awareness Programme Held at A.V. Baliga Hospital

Moodlakatte College of Nursing, Kundapura,Bsc Nursing 6th semester students organized a National Suicide Prevention Month Awareness Programme on September 28, 2026, at Kamala Baliga Memorial Hall Dr.A V Baliga Hospital Doddanagudde, udupi from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The programme aimed to create awareness about suicide prevention, promote mental health, and encourage individuals to seek timely help and support during emotional difficulties.
The programme was graced by Mrs. Soujanya Shetty, Administrative Officer, and Mrs. Pramila D’Souza, Nursing Superintendent, A.V. Baliga Hospital, along with Mrs. Chethana R., Assistant Lecturer, Moodlakatte College of Nursing.
The programme began with Sinchana as the Master of Ceremony, followed by the welcome address by Ankitha and the presentation on the significance of the day by Shobha. The students presented a series of awareness activities, including a dance, mind game and a skit on suicide prevention. The skit highlighted the importance of empathy, effective communication, emotional support, recognizing warning signs, and seeking timely professional help.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Shreya. The event successfully conveyed the important message that every life matters and no one should face difficulties alone, while encouraging students and the community to promote compassion, understanding, and timely support for those experiencing emotional distress.
