The Department of Child Health Nursing, Moodlakatte College of Nursing, organized a special guest lecture on “Promoting Awareness and Advancing Knowledge on Eye donation and Transplantation” on 17th October 2025 for the 2nd -year B.Sc. Nursing students. The session aimed to explain the process of eye donation and corneal transplantation, including eligibility criteria procedures of eye donation protocols.The session was graced by the presence of Dr. Shefali Christina Misquith, Senior Resident, Department of Opthalmology, KMC Manipal who served as the Resource Person. The event was also honored by Prof. Jennifer Freeda Menezes, Principal, and Mrs. Roopashree K. S., Vice Principal, Moodlakatte College of Nursing, Kundapura.The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp, signifying the beginning of the enlightening session. The event was hosted by Prof. Mr. Chandrashrkhara, HOD, Department of Child Health Nursing. Dr. Shefali Christina Misquith, delivered an insightful and informative lecture on the need and importance of eye donation in India.
Eligibility criteria and procedure for eye donation. Myths and misconceptions surrounding eye donation. The role of healthcare professionals and nursing students in motivating communities. At the end of the session, many students voluntarily filled out the eye donation pledge forms, demonstrating their willingness to contribute to this humanitarian effort.As a token of appreciation, a memento was presented to the resource person by Prof. Jennifer Freeda Menezes, Principal of Moodlakatte College of Nursing.The program concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to the management, faculty members, and students for their active participation and support in making the session a success.
